Mr. Tom Martin
Principal
Tom Martin has been the Principal at Byrd School for the past seven years. Prior to that, he taught physical education in District 111 for twelve years and served as Assistant Principal at Kennedy School. Mr. Martin holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of St. Francis. Mr. Martin is eager to make the transition to Burbank School and looks forward to getting acquainted with the students, faculty, staff, and community members.

We are thrilled to announce the winner of our 2026 Vehicle Sticker Contest, held among our amazing Kindergarten through 5th grade students in celebration of the Burbank Community and our district’s 150th Anniversary! This year’s Districtwide Winner is Johnny, a talented 5th Grade student at Burbank School!

Young Authors Contest

The Young Authors Contest promotes writing and creativity by encouraging children to write an original story and present it in book form. The contest is open to all students in Kindergarten through 8th Grade. Submissions are due Thursday, January 8.

We want to reassure you that our schools are safe and welcoming places for every child. Attached is a letter from Dr. Fleck that explains our district’s commitment to providing all students with a free and equal education, regardless of immigration status, and outlines the policies we follow to ensure student safety and support. 2025-2026 Bus Routes

AM and PM Bus Routes have been posted for our Elementary Schools and for Liberty Junior High School. Eligible students should have also received route information via email. A student is eligible for transportation if the student resides 1.5 miles or more from his/her assigned school or must cross a street determined to be a hazardous crossing.

PASS After School Care Program

2025-2026 PASS Registration

District 111 offers a comprehensive after-school care program for students in Grades K-7. Registration includes a $55.00 non-refundable fee, which will be applied to the first week. In order to complete the registration process, all previous outstanding balances for PASS must be paid in full. Space is limited and on a first come first serve basis.
