Mr. Tom Martin
Principal
Tom Martin has been the Principal at Byrd School for the past seven years. Prior to that, he taught physical education in District 111 for twelve years and served as Assistant Principal at Kennedy School. Mr. Martin holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of St. Francis. Mr. Martin is eager to make the transition to Burbank School and looks forward to getting acquainted with the students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Fall Into Fitness T-Shirt Design Contest

CALLING ALL BURBANK SCHOOL DISTRICT 111 TALENTED ARTISTS! We are asking the students to create and submit a t-shirt design for our Fall Into Fitness Wellness Day on October 19, 2024! The winning submission will be the official 2024 “Fall Into Fitness” t-shirt design. The design winner will also receive a free shirt and gift card from one of our generous sponsors.

preschool screening

Preschool Screening

District 111 provides development screenings for children ages 3 and 4 living within the boundaries of Burbank, Illinois. Developmental screenings typically assess a child's skill in areas such as language, motor development, self-help and emotional development. If a child is identified as a risk, further evaluation and support may be recommended. The next preschool screening will be held at McCord Early Learning Center on September 18.

Wally's Waffles Wins The Great Food Truck Race!

Congrats to Ms. Strzepka and Wally's Waffles for winning the Great Food Truck Race 2024! Ms. Strzepka is an Academic Interventionist at Kennedy School and competed with her brother, Wally, and another partner, Joe, in this season of The Great Food Truck Race which aired on the Food Network. Way to go Wally's Waffles!!!

School Board Elections

Burbank School District 111 will have four school board seats to be filled at the April 1, 2025 Consolidated Election. Candidates who are elected will fill four-year terms expiring in April 2029. Candidates for the office of school board can begin to circulate nominating petitions beginning August 20. The period for filing candidate filing runs from November 12 through November 18. Click here for additional information and required forms. School board candidate packets are also available for pick up at the district office.
