Mr. Tom Martin
Principal
Tom Martin has been the Principal at Byrd School for the past seven years. Prior to that, he taught physical education in District 111 for twelve years and served as Assistant Principal at Kennedy School. Mr. Martin holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of St. Francis. Mr. Martin is eager to make the transition to Burbank School and looks forward to getting acquainted with the students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Care Pack Drive for Ronald McDonald House

Pack the Packs is right around the corner! Everyone is invited to join us Thursday, March 19, starting at 3:45 PM at Liberty Junior High to help pack donated items for families in need. We’re still collecting donations through Tuesday, March 17, so please send what you can to your home school. Thank you for your incredible generosity and for supporting our NJHS students as they work toward their goal for this amazing cause!

Do you have a 3- or 4-year-old ready to learn, play, and grow? McCord Early Learning Center is now enrolling students into our Preschool program! Our classrooms are filled with hands-on learning, friendship, and fun—all in a nurturing environment designed to help every child shine. Register for a screening by April 30.

District Fundraiser - Chuck's BBQ March 18

Our favorite Burbank BBQ "Chuck's Cafe" is helping us in our districtwide fundraiser on Wednesday, March 18, 11:15 am - 9:00 pm. Plan your meal, present this voucher and a portion of your order total will go directly toward our Ronald McDonald House Fundraiser lead by our Liberty Junior Honor Society students! Thank You for helping us make this a successful event!

Liberty Student Advances to the Regional Spelling Bee

Kirsten has done it again! With remarkable dedication and talent, she earned an impressive 3rd-place finish, after 22 spelling rounds, at the ISC4 Regional Qualifier Spelling Bee. As one of the top three contestants, Kirsten will proudly represent South Cook at the Regional Spelling Bee March 19 at E.F. Lindop School in Broadview. The entire Burbank School District 111 community celebrates Kirsten’s continued success and is incredibly proud of her outstanding achievements! We wish her the very best as she takes this next exciting step!

Congratulations Young Authors Contest Winners!

Our Annual Young Authors Contest was held February 18 at Tobin School. A winner from each grade level was selected as well as an overall district winner. A link to each grade level winning submission can be found here. Congrats to all our talented young authors!

District 111's Annual Art Exhibition will be held Wednesday, March 24 at Prairie Trails Library from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.

ISBE Those Who Excel - Award of Excellence

The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) has honored more than 450 Illinoisans for their extraordinary contributions to education across the state through its annual Those Who Excel & Teacher of the Year Awards. The awardees include 14 members of the Illinois Teacher of the Year Cohort. The awardees announced today include Burbank School District’s Angela Sexton, Teacher at McCord Early Learning Center!
