Welcome to Burbank Library Media Center

Mission Statement

The mission of the Burbank School Library Media Center is to ensure that students are effective users of books and it strives to support the curriculum and academic standards. The library media center provides a wide range of materials on appropriate levels of difficulty that will encourage growth in knowledge and establish a life-long love of reading.

Circulation

Any staff member may borrow materials as needed.

Students visit the library weekly for book checkout.

1st Grade             1 book will be loaned for one week

2nd-6th Grade     2 books will be loaned for one week

Books may be renewed upon request.

LOST OR DAMAGED MATERIALS

Any student with late, lost, or damaged books will not be allowed to check out new materials from the library until all books are returned or paid for. If a book is lost or damaged, the student and parents will be notified of the cost for payment of a new book. All books are assessed at current market value and are purchased with professional library bindings. Books purchased privately will not be accepted as replacements.

Please help your child with the following reminders:

Remind your child to wear their student ID everyday, as this is part of their uniform and required to check out books.

Remid your child that books are to be kept in their backpack when they are not reading them. This will help with keeping the books out of reach of pets or little siblings that might ruin or damage the books and it will ensure that students have their books on their library day.

Remind your child to have clean hands when reading, to not eat or drink while reading, and to use a proper bookmark.

The Media Clerk strives to instill a sense of responsibility while a book is in the possession of a student. This means that the student is responsible for caring for the book, renewing, and returning it on time so that others may borrow it.
